Christian Education

The desire and ability to teach others present one of the most rewarding vocations in life. However, the individual must be prepared to face different styles of learning abilities, personalities, cultures and ethnicities. Teaching can be a gift, but the individual must be prepared, especially when called to teach God's people. This begins with study and knowledge of the Word. In 2 Timothy 2:15, the word states: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." Therefore, you can let Shekinah be the place to complete your Christian education where the aim is study of the Word. As an online college, there is no need to leave your home.

Study of the Word.

John 5:39

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Since Christian education introduces and promotes the faith, the main course of study is based on the Word of God and its principles. The student must spend time in the Word for self-development, preparation, and familiarity so that he or she is able to answer questions when approached or for teaching others. Therefore, as with all other achievements in life, this begins with study. 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

The student must be able to answer if he or she trusts the teachings of the Bible, often asked by those who question its teachings.  Knowledge of the Word will assist the individual to answer this question.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Spending time in the Word,

means opening the Bible and taking time to read, reflect, meditate, listen, and follow the teachings to impart to others.

Why Christian Education?

Christian education answers what we believe and why. These answers are from personal experience, and biblical information. This learning teaches students the wisdom of God and brings them into His presence. Students are prepared with knowledge of the scriptures so that when confronted, they are able to respond with confidence (2 Timothy 2:15). They also learn how to apply the Word of God to both practical and spiritual situations and being able to rightly divide the truth of the word, its power and as an instrument to lead others to a saving grace in Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:12). Moreover, the only way we will know God and Jesus will be from the Word.

The main emphasis at Shekinah is study of the Word to prepare disciples for Christ (Matthew 28:19-20). We value our students, and for this reason, classes are small which gives the opportunity to have guided teaching. Tuition is affordable, and in some cases, students are assisted so that they are not disappointed by being unable to meet the demands of obtaining a Christian education degree.

What is Christian Education?

In a Meeting

Christian Education can be described as the study of God’s Word, His love, mercies, forgiveness and faithfulness toward mankind. This also includes Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. We can further describe Christian education as the teaching of a system of scriptural principles, and methods from the Bible, for both spiritual and practical applications to effectively demonstrate and explain the Word of God. Since Christianity of itself cannot be fully understood without verification of its effectiveness in the life of an individual, there has to be evidence of its relevance and applicability for a changed life to please the Lord. In essence, Christian education teaches how to practically demonstrate the Word through various methods and techniques to explain and demonstrate its relevance and meaning to the world.

Matthew 5: 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Nevertheless, study of the word goes deeper than mere reading. Instead, it refers to understanding and having the correct interpretation in order to apply the word in the right context, 2 Timothy 2:15. Furthermore, this type of learning teaches students how to understand the world biblically, and from the secular viewpoint. In essence, Christian education helps the student see the world through a different type of lenses including the physical or natural, moral and spiritual viewpoints. Christian education prepares the minister to take the gospel message to the world. Matthew 28:19-20.

Similar to all other educational learning, a course in Christian education involves curricula and syllabi preparation: lesson planning and delivery. There are also codes of ethics both spiritual and practical to follow when teaching others.
