Matthew 17:20
“If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, ‘Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.’”
Mountain moving faith means action with precision in terms of first knowing what is your need or identifying the problem before you. Next, you must know who can help you obtain the need or from where it can be acquired. Finally, seek after that need, and wait for it. It is the type of faith which tests your spiritual strength and the quality of your relationship with God.
Presently, you might be facing a difficult situation which you cannot understand or do anything about. You know what it is, it is annoying and troublesome. It could be that you have a need, but to get it pose another problem. It could also be that you see what you want, but you do not have the means by which to obtain it.
Faith in anything means that it will take more than will power to obtain your desire. We study in preparation for a profession, skill or career. You at least have an idea how to go about achieving that desire and will do all in your power to be successful. The power you have to obtain success is what drives you to go after your dream by study, research, attending classes, and anything that is required because you have a need.
Mountain moving faith means you will not allow anything to darken your desire to reach the heart of God. Those shadows are “I can’t help myself,” “I will say a prayer and wait here until it happens,” “fretting,” “anxiety, distress, depression, and the worst of them all unbelief.”
The disciples could not cast out a demon because of their unbelief (Matthew 17:19-20), which is the greatest stumbling block before anyone seeking help from God. He will not respond to unbelief no matter how dire your situation, you must have faith to obtain God’s attention for Him to meet your need.
Now we come to the impossible situations in our lives which only God can undo or provide solution. When Abraham was faced with the most threatening situation in his life which was to say “yes” to God and trust Him or deny God’s request. While he was going up Mount Moriah’s hill, his son observed that everything was provided, but there was no sacrifice. He asked his father about this, who told him “God will provide” (Genesis 22:8). This is an example of mountain moving faith which will not flinch no matter what the cost.
It did not stop there, Abraham had to live up to his proclamation by acting upon it. Abraham knew that the power of faith means self-sacrifice to obtain the blessing. When we ask God to do something which we cannot do for ourselves or to provide something which we are unable to meet, then we must by faith wait patiently and hope to receive it recognizing that only He is able to provide that need.
When we can proclaim our faith and hold on trusting in God, this is power against the enemy. Even when he brings on self-destructive feelings of defeat, anxiety, stress, and depression we must know that faith does not acknowledge these spirits; they are defeating and destructive. They immediately block hopes and expectations will die!
The power of faith will influence the individual to hope against all hope and to hold on because that person believes in God Who cannot fail. Abraham’s declaration of faith is an example of how powerful faith can be when we ask, believe, patiently wait, and expect to receive that which we have requested or which we were promised.
Romans 4:18-21
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb:
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
When we pray, we must wait patiently to see the result (Hebrews 6:12). Never give up on God because it will be your faith that will move His hand to give you that which you seek (Hebrews 11:6). There is no other way to receive anything from God; but by faith, trust, and patience with expectation (I John 5:14-15).
Mountain moving faith is the most powerful force which the believer has and which he alone can manipulate to obtain the promises of God. It is up the individual to activate his measure of faith (Romans 12:3) so that it works on his behalf.
