“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”
(I Corinthians 15:58)
The difficulties of the Christian life are originally spiritual; but they are expressed in natural incidents. Therefore, we need God’s grace to endure the experience which is a walk of faith and supported by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit. We need this great Comforter and teacher in the times of distress, and for guidance and direction.
Being enlisted as a soldier for Christ on this journey includes a life of suffering. Still, we have the heroes of faith reported in Hebrews 11 as our example. To remain faithful, we must keep our eyes on Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith. We must be determined and purposeful on this journey so that we do not allow the cares of this life to distract us.
“For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds” (Hebrews 12:3).
We are all in this race of life together, and we must determine in our hearts to be faithful, obedient, and loyal to Christ.
It is not an ordinary race to run because it is unique and completely different from any other which you have known. Nevertheless, there is a joyful end for which we can hope if we remain. There will always be challenges which we did not expect, but we must be persistent with our faithfulness, and being resilient after each battle. It is only when we finish the race will we hear “well done” which is what we are all expecting to hear. Amen!
