Praise is a Spiritual Warfare Weapon Against the Enemy
Psalm 34:1, 3-4, 17 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear him, and delivers them. The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
In the midst of sorrow, trials, tests, and suffering can we still give God a praise. What causes us to praise God? Let us take a look.
Everything is going well. All the dots are joined, the lines meet, bills are paid and everything is going well. If it is only when things are pleasing that we are motivated to praise God, then we are not genuine.
God is seeking those who will worship Him in the good times and in the bad times (John 4:24). David determined to praise God “at all times.” How often do we praise God? What causes us to praise Him? There are times when we only praise when things are going well, but the moment there is a skew in our lives, we become despondent and may remain in that place a long time. No one said that true Christianity was going to be easy. Jesus Himself told us to take up the cross and walk the narrow road, filled with difficulties and trials.
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads unto life, and few there be that find it.
Despite the difficulties which we face, Jesus promises to be with us always. This is the way of the Cross. There is no other way, but taking up our cross daily and following Jesus.
Luke 9:23-26 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
Why not trust the Lord in this critical time? We should not wait for the best of times when everything is going to our advantage. God’s love never changes, and we too must be sincere and loving towards Him. This too will pass. Let us continue to praise and love the Lord Who will never fail us.
Many are experiencing all kinds of trials during this time: financial, loss of employment, and social gathering. Keep in mind that God is always near, and He will never fail us (Psalm 46:1).
Keep praising and see how your fears, worries, and stresses dissipate. Indeed, praises will change the negative aura around us. Praises, will lift you out of misery and uncertainty. Praises will bring you in the very presence of a Holy God Who will lift your soul and deliver you from stress, worry and anxiety.
