Do You love Jesus?
Each person has a different opinion of holy week. However, to the believer in Christ, this time has significant meaning and holds powerful lessons, which bring each person to a place of reflection and thoughtfulness.
In Luke 22:15-20 we read of the inception of the Lord’s Supper or Holy Communion. It was in this particular week that it was instituted when Jesus asked that we keep this ceremony in remembrance of Him.
Luke 22:19 – And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. Each time we take the Communion it should indeed remind us of the sacrifice Jesus made to deliver us from sin.
Holy week reminds us of Jesus’ sufferings and humiliation from those who hated Him, and who could not understand His teachings. Jesus’ character was unlike what mankind had ever known. It was unique, which made those who criticized Him marvel concerning the way He treated [everyone]; none barring. This time should really cause every believer to think about his or her attitude towards people who maybe of a different religious belief and other differences. Since Jesus gave His life for the entire world, should we not love one another too?
In this time of pain and emotional turmoil, should we not demonstrate the love of God in sincerity and truthfulness to honour what Jesus did so many years ago which this week reminds us of? Jesus’ love spreads to every sinner who will accept it.
It was during holy week that Jesus was betrayed by one of His followers. Even though Jesus knew of the betrayal, He continued doing good to all who came to Him. The character of Jesus can only be emulated through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8 – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
From our human position, no one can really endure such suffering, shame, humiliation, and rejection and still possess love for those who cause those situations. Indeed, it takes the love and mercy of God to send His Son who would not disappointment Him through disobedience, but Who would carry out the plan of salvation so that you and I could be saved.
Holy week, holds much for the believer and for the world of sinners who are yet to be saved. If you would receive Jesus today, holy week will have a greater and more significant meaning to you than it has ever had before. You can receive Jesus now. The word teaches in John 1:11-13:
He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
To as many means you too. Why not turn your life over to Jesus and receive Him in your heart today? He will not turn you away. Instead, the Word teaches: All that the Father gives me shall come to me; and him that comes to me I will in no wise cast out. (Luke 6:37). This means you, and anyone who will receive Jesus Christ and live for Him. He will not turn you away. There will never be a time when the sinner who comes to Jesus will be turned away by Him. This is why Jesus came. It was to save sinners. Accept the challenge and receive Jesus Christ and be born again into the family of God.
May God bless you, and have a wonderful day.
Jesus loves you more than you can every imagine.
