Holiness unto the Lord
Genesis 1:26; Leviticus 20:26; 11:44-45; I Peter 1:15-16
The very thought of holiness means separation unto God. Holiness is a lifestyle which God requires of His children and which we must seek after with all our hearts. Furthermore, God values holiness and considers it an act of free will towards Him from His children.
The Word reveals to us that we are called unto a life of holiness unto the Lord. “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” (Ephesians 1:4).
God requires us to be holy because He has set the example of holiness before us. God will not ask anything of us which He has not exemplified or that which is impossible for us to do (I Peter 1:15-16). We can live holy to please God; but it is costly requiring self-denial through suffering (Luke 9:23); and being crucified with Christ (Galatians 2:20; Philippians 3:10).

What is Holiness?
Holiness means being set apart for a specific purpose. For the believer in Christ, holiness means being set apart for His service.
Holiness is an inner work through the Holy Spirit, Who renews the mind to impart the divine nature of God within us (Romans 12:1-2; Ephesians 2:1-4).
When God made man, He gave him His nature and likeness. Man was initially created in holiness, but he failed when he disobeyed God’s Commandment (Genesis 3).
Externally, a life of holiness is evidenced in the changed lifestyle of the individual. Evidently, holiness is not a “talk” but a life which emphasizes who is controlling the life of the believer. The person who seeks to be holy will move away from carnality and seek to please God by living according to His will and requirements. The person who seeks to be holy will not adhere to the false doctrine of “once saved always saved.”
A life of holiness means you must remain grounded in the faith which requires diligence and faithfulness (Colossians 1:23). The individual must be separated from the world and the change will be seen by others.
Evidence of holiness involves changing ungodly lifestyle, speaking the truth, dressing modestly as Christians; whether male or female. We should not look like the world, but as men and women who are obedient to the God Who called us.
