For me it was in the garden, He prayed: “Not My will, but Thine.” He had no tears for His own griefs, But sweat drops of blood for mine. [C.H. Gabriel].

This particular verse of the song, “My Saviour’s Love” holds a lot of meaning to every mortal soul who will think upon the words. While we were not present at the scene on that day when Jesus gave His life for all mankind, yet we can pause and think about such love which the Father had for us by sending His only Son to die for a world of sinners.

What comes to your mind on this special day? It is a day of darkness and light; a day of sadness and joy; and day of loss and hope; a day of death and life; a day of Supreme Sacrifice made by Jesus Christ for every mortal soul. For many, the day will pass as any other; but for those who love the Lord it is a day of reminder that He gave His life for us. What are you thinking?

Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Luke 22:42, 44-45 Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow,

Matthew 22:38-39, 42 Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Although there were disciples with Jesus on that night, yet they became tired and slept. Evidently, Jesus was alone. Yes, He suffered and died alone. We may have good intentions even to serve the Lord faithfully, but we do fail by the way. Even then, God’s love will not shrink when we fail. He forgives; and gives us opportunity to confess our sins [not to a man], but to Him. It does not stop at confession; we must turn away from those sins and repent (I John 1:8-2:2).

Today, take a moment to think of God’s love toward [you] us to send His Son into this world to die for sinners (John 3:16).

Good Friday is a great reminder concerning the wonderful love the Father demonstrated toward us (Romans 5:8). The entire world is going through a tremendous pain which is felt in all areas of our lives. Yet, despite this present situation, let us not forget that God is still our refuge and strength. He is still our present help in the time of trouble (Psalm 46:1). Indeed, the pain is great and challenges are enormous. Still, do not fear, but let us trust in Him to see us through this misery.

Let this day, Good Friday be a time of reflection that even though you have sorrows and griefs, they will pass and you will look back on the situation as an experience you never thought you would have overcome, but you did.

Be confident in God, and do not fear. Have hope! As you pray for protection, healing and guidance, have faith and do not doubt. Pray with the assurance and hope, expecting your prayers to be answered. This is what Good Friday is about – Hope!

I John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. Have a blessed and wonderful as you rest in the Lord and hope in Him.
