I Samuel 15:22-23

And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Our Sunday Morning Worship message was, “The Price for Obedience” delivered by Minister Vivienne. In her message, she noted that not only is there a price to pay, but there is also a sacrifice which must be made if we are to be obedient to God.

Although the preceding Scripture was not part of the message; yet it is fitting to remind us of the cost for disobedience. God is perfect in all His ways, and when He gives us instructions He expects us to follow them.

There is a price for obedience even when we do not have the blue-print for our lives or know what God wants us to do. What He requires is trust, and confidence in Him as we wait upon His directions.

To obey God means declaring war on the enemy. We will indeed pay a price: friends will leave us and we may suffer losses. However, none of those things can be compared to what God has in store for us, if we obey Him [Isaiah 64:4].

Keep in mind, that the higher the calling; the greater the sacrifice. I will also add, that the greater the responsibilities will be when we are obedient to God.

Being obedient to God is a daily walk with Him,  while we prepare to pay the price for obedience.
